Next Joint Operation: 30 August 2025
AN/PRC-152
The PRC-152 operates on the VHF band and transmits at 5 watts of RF power when dismounted. It is not compatible with the PRC-343, which operates on UHF. Therefore, squad and team leaders must carry both a PRC-343 (for intra-squad communication) and a PRC-152 or PRC-117F (for communication with adjacent squads and higher headquarters).
The PRC-152 relies on line-of-sight (LOS) and has an effective range of up to 5 km on medium power, though this can be significantly affected by terrain and weather. For increased range and performance, it can be connected to a Ground Spike Antenna (GSA) or mounted in a vehicle rack, which boosts its power output.
