RADIO RACKS
“Racks” are used in Arma 3 vehicles to mount radios in. This connects the radio itself into the vehicle’s internal systems and power supply, offering increased RF transmission power and range over a manpack radio.
A PRC-152 or a PRC-117F fitted to a rack will be boosted from 5 / 20 watts respectively to 50 watts, allowing increased range and capacity to overcome interference / screening.
When radios are mounted in a rack, their modes of operation remain the same as when they are used in dismounted roles. However, the vehicle user has to enable the rack before the radio can be used in the rack.
A vehicle may hold multiple racks, each containing one or more radios.
Sometimes, radios can be mounted or dismounted from the racks. However, in other cases, they are integral to the vehicle and cannot be removed.
Generally, you can’t access the rack when you are “turned out”, i.e. with the hatches open and head out. You must be turned in to do so.
To enable the Rack in a vehicle without a FFCS (you can check using Ctrl + Shift + Tab), then you will need to access the Rack and supply electrical power to your radios through the following steps:
Open the rack interface via ACE Self-Interaction
Use ACE Self-Interaction → Racks → Use All to initialize all available racks in the vehicle
Use your standard Push-To-Talk (PTT) keys to operate any radios mounted in the initialized racks
Configure each mounted radio as needed, as per the PRC-152 or PRC-117F guides
